A Novel Class of Antibacterial from Myxobacteria

Bacterial resistance to all known and commercially available antibiotics is an emerging risk for human health. Research for new molecules with novel mechanism of action becomes crucial to tackle this challenge, specifically for Gram negative bacteria.

In this poster, we:

  • Show the discovery of a natural product with a totally unprecedented scaffold associated to its total synthesis
  • Study the DNA replication / segregation MoA comparable with quinolones but without any cross resistance
  • Develop an approach to take advantage from Gram negative outer and inner membrane transporters to improve spectrum, efficacy and mitigate resistance risk in vitro and in vivo.
